At the beginning of each new year, Phenom Hoops works to assemble a series of articles centered around unsigned senior prospects. Last season, over one hundred players from North Carolina went on to play at the Division I, II, III or NAIA levels, and that number looks likely to continue increasing with the current senior class. Typically, we take a closer look at guys who are overlooked and underrated, and today's edition will highlight'Quentin Richardson of Southern Durham.'

We've seen Richardson multiple times with Southern Durham, including at our Hoops and Dreams, where we stated, 'The addition of Richardson will be incredibly vital to the success of this Southern Durham team throughout the remainder of the season. He's a smart, calm point guard prospect that knows how to complement Council and Hamilton's scoring mentality extremely well. Richardson is quick and has the ball on a string, which allows him to effortlessly navigate through traffic and make plays for himself or others. He's also a reliable three-level scorer and transition threat that keeps opponents guessing at all times. College coaches can certainly utilize a guy like Richardson.'

Although there hasn't been a ton of buzz surrounding Richardson, it has more to do with the quiet way he moves rather than anything to do with his actual ability. He's smart, quick, and extremely difficult to contain in the open floor. Richardson is an electric scorer with explosion, craftiness, and a nice balance between scoring and playmaking. He displays the ability to generate clean shots from anywhere on the floor, but also shows a willingness to set up others and make the right play whenever possible. Richardson applies scoring pressure from all levels, overwhelms his assignment defensively, and forces turnovers at a consistent rate. Though he isn't widely discussed, Richardson certainly has all the tools to succeed at scholarship-level programs.
