At the beginning of each new year, Phenom Hoops works to assemble a series of articles centered around unsigned senior prospects. Last season, over a hundred players from North Carolina went on to play at the Division I, II, III, or NAIA levels, and that number looks likely to continue increasing with the current senior class. Typically, we take a closer look at guys who are overlooked and underrated, and today's edition will highlight Isaiah Tate of Concord Academy.

We've seen Tate in every possible setting, including at our most recent NC Top 80, where we stated, 'Next, we look at a player who highlighted the ability to make an impact from either backcourt spot, Isaiah Tate. He's a skilled, crafty guard prospect with a tight handle, useful vision, and scoring prowess from all levels. Tate utilizes his quick first step to break down opponents, touch the paint, and make plays with the ball in his hands. He's comfortable at creating for himself and others, or finding opportunities as a cutter and spot-up option. Next in his development process is working to get stronger, as it would make him a more physically imposing player on both ends of the floor. Coach Palmore on Tate: 'Isaiah has very good quickness as a combo guard. Must work on when to score versus when to get others involved. I would like to see him be more vocal and lead with his voice. Has the chance to be a really good player. Getting better at time/score situation is key.' Tate enjoyed a quality showing during his time at camp, and will be a target for various coaches as he enters his senior season at Concord Academy.'

Since then, Tate has only continued to further solidify his status as a scholarship-worthy player who would be an asset for a variety of different programs. He's a polished scoring guard with range, vision, and the ability to heat up quickly. Tate displays a crafty nature, creates shots off the bounce with relative ease, and consistently applies pressure from all levels, which forces opponents to stay on their heels at all times. This season, he's posting nightly averages of 12.0 PPG, 2.2 APG, and 1.0 SPG. Tate has been a clear difference-maker for the Eagles and should be a guy who sees an uptick in his recruitment over the coming months.
