Watching all the action for the NCISAA championships, one performance that really stood out over the weekend was the play of 2022 DJ Cuttino for Concord Academy as he finished with 23 points to help lead his team to a title.

He stepped up in a huge way to lead his team, showcasing his ability to score in a variety of ways, display his toughness and ability to finish/create, his ability to step up and be a leader, and his presence on both ends of the floor. But this isn't just a one-time performance, as Cuttino has continuously shown to be a hard-nosed guard that can be a playmaker and fill up the stat sheet.  On the season, the senior guard averaged 10 points, six assists, and four rebounds per game.

Cuttino shows a nice blend of scoring ability, getting into the paint and knocking down shots from outside while making smart decisions on the floor, being a go-to leader, showcasing poise on the court, and stepping up when needed.

This is why he could be a solid late prospect for a program looking for a point guard that does a little bit of everything on the court.'

What Has Been Said by Phenom Hoops:

'The senior guard may have had his best showing in a Concord uniform and it couldn't have come at a better time. Cuttino hit so many big shots, knocking down five 3-pointers in the game, playing strong on defense, and just stepping up when his team needed him to.  He ended the night with 23 points.' ' Patrick O'Brien

'Given the balanced structure and approach by the Eagles, Cuttino was as valuable as anyone on the roster. He consistently operated as the primary initiator and creator, looking to set up the offense, attack the paint when possible, and make smart, unselfish decisions with the ball in his hands. Cuttino is a capable shooting threat, but doesn't force the action or look to do too much. He's a scrappy defender, steady offensive presence, and definite x-factor for the overall success of this team. College coaches should be involved. Final stats: 9 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and 1 steal.' ' Jeff Bendel in Jan 2022
