Season in Review:

Myers Park really became a must-see program this past season, not just on the football field but also on the basketball court. Talent of all levels and different positions, the team really made a name for themselves. One of the key figures that often go overlooked but has continually impressed each time we watch him was 2021 6'0 Xavier McKelvy. He averaged 15.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 1.4 steals per game this past season and he may only be starting his story.

Coach's Thoughts (Coach Nick Jones):

'Xavier is an explosive off-ball guard that can really fill it up when he gets going. He rebounds at a high rate for a guard. He's a throwback in a sense that he looks for and thrives at mid-range pull-ups but also can finish above the rim or beyond the 3pt line. The sky is the limit as he continues to grow more comfortable as a playmaker for others as well.'

What has Phenom Said:

'Watching his game on the floor though, old school is probably the best way to describe his game. He isn't flashy with his play but can be incredibly effective, especially with his long stride and wiggle in his game. At times, it seems that he is going slower than opponents but he is simply setting one up to change directions and score. He also brings toughness and physicality to the floor, one that plays hard each possession.' – Patrick O'Brien in 2020

'Each and every time we watch McKelvy play, we are more impressed with his play. A strong guard on the floor plays with great intensity and such aggressiveness on the court. He can score in an array of ways, getting downhill, stepping out to knock down the three, or getting to the free-throw line with his strong play.' – Game Report in 2019

'His long strides and unique blend of speed makes it tough for any defender to stay with him, but then you add the bounce and strength to his game, it was tough for defenders to slow him down. McKelvy's ability to finish through contact at the rim as well as knock down jumpers was tough.' – Carmel Christian MLK Showcase in 2020
