Tykee Peterson 6'4 185 2022 Life Christian Academy (VA)

Tykee is a strong, physical guard with good shiftiness and a silky smooth left-handed stroke.   He is a threat to score from anywhere on the floor showing good consistency both as a spot-up shooter and when shooting off the dribble.  He is most efficient in the mid-range, moves well off the ball, and catches the ball shot ready demonstrating very good footwork.  He is a tough assignment in isolations where he can combine some shifty playmaking tools to break defenders down or engage defenders and use his strong frame and ability to embrace and play through contact to score.

Tykee uses hesitations or hang dribbles effectively.  He has a crisp and quick crossover dribble move and also employs inside out dribbles and plays off hesitations effectively.  He has the ability to erupt from a standstill and generate a powerful burst to blow by defenders and get through an open seam where he can stop on a dime and effortlessly elevate into a picturesque pull-up jumper or get the rim where he is an aggressive and physical finisher.  Tykee also shows some creativity on finishes and has a great touch off the glass.  He is always on balance and can get defenders leaning with a creative dribble move and abruptly pull up and get his jumper off quickly or use a skillfully executed step back to create separation.  He is strong enough to play off contact to create separation as well.

Tykee is comfortable and highly efficient stepping in off the dribble both in the mid-range and from deep and gets great lift on his jumper.  He is a high motor lockdown defender!  Quick enough to stay in front of most guards and physical enough to stifle dribble penetration.  He has solid footwork, a long wingspan, and excellent lateral quickness.  He's also a rebounding threat from the guard position where his powerful legs and leaping ability make him a factor but he also tracks the ball well off the rim and elevates quickly.   He brings a great deal of versatility and energy on both ends of the floor and especially on the defensive end.

Tykee is a high IQ student/athlete who carries a 3.8 GPA.  He was inducted into the National Honor Society in October 2019!   He received his first of what should be many offers in September when DII West Virginia Wesleyan offered.  I expect he will entertain offers at both the DI and DII levels next season.
