It was the first true chance we got to see Asheville Christian in action this season and despite the record so far, there are a few names that could be interesting to monitor down the road.' Of course, they still have their big 7-footer in Philipp Kreile who is part of the 2021 class.' We got a chance to watch him early at the Phenom Tennessee 150 camp in 2019.

However, it gave us an opportunity to see a few new names that could be fun to watch down the road if they continue to develop their game.

First off, we got a chance to watch 2022 6'9 Leon Nahar.' First off, he is a Dutch National team player and his father played at Wright state and was a 17-year pro in Europe, so the background is there for this young man.

He is a long, lengthy prospect that has a versatile game and showed us some flashes that if he put it all together and continued to work, he could be a player to make an impact at the next level. Even though shots didn't quite fall as he wanted, he wasn't afraid to show that he has confidence in his outside shot and can step out from the perimeter; according to Coach Whitemore, he is actually shooting nearly 50 percent from behind the arc this season.' But to add along with his size and length, he is one that just seems comfortable in making plays in several areas of the court on both sides.' One highlight he had can be seen below.

Secondly, it gave us a look at a 2023 guard in Derin Saran.  Saran comes from Turkey and was a member of the Turkish National team.  The young guard showed a nice ability to initiate the offense and maneuver on the court with the dribble.  He saw the floor well and attacked the openings when available or found his teammates in open spots.   In his game vs. Carmel Christian, he was able to get into the lane very well and finish around the rim.

He is a nice starting piece for the Asheville School, and it seems that this is a program that has some nice pieces that could make their mark in the state of North Carolina down the road.' Certainly, two guys to keep an eye on.
