When we announced earlier in the week that 6'5 sophomore Trey Wertz of Santa Clara had put his name in the NCAA transfer portal, we knew his recruitment would take off. In our article 'It's Not Where You Start, 'it was just a matter of time that Trey Wertz would be in the conversation as a high major prospect. Upon arriving at Santa Clara, Trey transitioned from a combo guard to the point guard position. As a freshman, he averaged 32.7 minutes per game, 12.2 points per game, 2.9 rebounds per game and 4.7 assists per game. His sophomore season was equally impressive where he averaged 28.6 minutes per game, 11.9 points per game, 3.5 assists per game and 3.9 assists per game. He shot 48.9% from the floor, 40% from the 3-point line and 75.7% from the free throw line. On Tuesday, March 24th, Trey entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.
