Name: Dhieu Deing
School: UTSA
Class: Junior

2021-22: This past season, Deing had a very good season in which he averaged 13.6 points per game, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game.  He started 13 games and played in 25 of them at UTSA, as the North Carolina native was able to capitalize off a strong summer with South Sudan.  This is after a season in which he played well at Dodge City CC in 2020-21 and USC Aiken in 2019-20.

Deing has been able to show that he can be a nice piece for a team with his 6'5 frame and ability to score.  He averaged 27.2 minutes per game at UTSA this past season and had multiple games in which he posted 20+ points.  His shooting percentages were a little down this past season but he has shown in the past that he can knock down shots, shooting 43 percent at USC-Aiken. And he has played on the big stage, playing for South Sudan where he was averaging 19.5 points per game, shooting 45 percent from the floor and 47 percent from three at one point.

What Was Said By Phenom Hoops:

'Now, the 6'5 prospect has had an interesting journey to where he is today.  Playing first at USC Aiken, Deing played in 29 games and earned 15 starts with the program, eventually averaging 11.6 points and 4.3 rebounds.  He then played his sophomore season at Dodge City CC, where he simply took off even more and showed his ability to be a bucket-getter.  Averaging 19.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game, Deing looked poised and ready for the next step.  Now, he is headed to UTSA in hopes of doing the same but before that, he had a tremendous opportunity to play for South Sudan in the 2021 FIBA African National Basketball Championship and represent his home nation. And it is only fitting that Deing continues to shine at the highest level for South Sudan.  He is leading all players in points per game, averaging 19.5 points, shooting 45 percent from the floor, and 47 percent from three. A player that has battled his way throughout to achieve his dream, this North Carolina prospect is showing and proving to everyone that doubted him.  Deing has worked extremely hard to get where he is at today and it doesn't look like he is slowing down anytime soon.  Just another NC player making noise on the biggest of stages.'

'Coming from all the way off the radar, Deing is a jet-quick lead guard who has great size and length. He shot the ball well and played an aggressive, attacking style on both ends of the floor. He seems to never get tired. Very nice prospect, expect a big bump in the rankings and once D1 programs see him in July he should quickly move to the top of some recruiting boards.' ' HS evaluation
