College coaches always need shooters and one place you can find one is at Weddington high school, as 2022 AJ Cook has continued to capture the eyes of many. And why wouldn’t he… if you have watched his game over the summer and school year, he doesn’t lack any confidence in his shot-making capabilities.
Over the years though, he has put in the work to get where he is today. From coming off the bench and providing a spark at Weddington, to then becoming a starter and a champion, Cook has elevated his play and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon.
Countless times this summer and this season, he simply put on a show, getting to his spots along the perimeter, showcasing his quick-trigger and confidence in his shot, and doing it at a consistent rate. Even in a shortened high school season this year, Cook still knocked in 57 3-pointers and shot 44 percent from behind the arc.
He has a knack for knowing when to let it fly but is also crafty on the court and keeps his defenders guessing. He makes quality decisions on the floor, whether if it’s with his shot or being a playmaker on the court; he simply plays within the offense but also is a legit threat to lead the way with his perimeter shooting. It is why more schools should be gearing up and looking his way for the class of 2022.
CC Elite is going to be a popular program to watch this summer and Cook could quickly be a nice steal for a college program, especially if you are needing a knockdown shooter.
