It has been a standard practice of the Phenom Hoop Report not to rank players in the freshman class (NC 2020 Class) until they have completed a full season of high school basketball at the varsity or junior varsity level. In the next several weeks, we will take a closer look at players we have seen repeatedly in camp setting or in travel ball situations. In this issue of the NC 2020 Class “The Stars of Tomorrow, “ we are going to talk about 6’4 Jared Porter of Carrboro High School.

6’4 rising freshman Jared Porter of Carrboro High School was one of a handful of your prospects from North Carolina that was invited to the CP3 Rising Stars camp this past summer. For us at the Phenom Hoop Report, he is definitely one to track in the 2020 class that is going to be something special in the Hoop State. We watched Jared last year at the NC Junior Phenom camp and we came away impressed with his advanced skill set and overall understanding of the game. We wrote, “Jared did a phenomenal job of shooting the ball throughout the day. He has nice size and basketball IQ that allows him to be successful on the court. Simply put, we were dazzled with his ball handling and passing skills for his size/position. He can take his man off the dribble with relative ease and his footwork in the paint is remarkable. Jared Porter is oozing with upside and potential.”

We look forward to watching the development of Jared this upcoming season. He is definitely one to watch.
