The NCISAA 2A Division has been getting very interesting late in the season, much different than it felt at the start. Coming in, many had pegged The Burlington School as the clear favorite coming in and they certainly remain as one of the top teams that could secure yet another championship ring.

But there are plenty of other teams that are making a clear statement towards the end of the season that could make the 2A playoffs up for grabs. TBS has the talent and depth, along with strong coaching that will give them a chance to secure yet another championship under their belt. 2024 Zion Walker continues to lead the charge, but so many others have really elevated their play for this team and they are also battle-tested.

Caldwell Academy is an interesting program, as they seem to be coming on strong led by start 2025 Jaylen Cross who seems to turning it up a notch late in the season and showcasing why he is one of the premier talents in the state. But he isn’t alone, as 2024 J3 Swindell, 2024 Ahmed Jawo, and others are having a strong season. Greenfield has a tremendous balance of guard play and experience, and this is a team that has shown all year long that they have the talent to make a championship run. 2024 Nik Edwards, 2024 Tyler Barnes, 2026 Kobe Edwards, and several others are playing at a high level.

Moving on, you have to look down in Fayetteville at Fayetteville Academy and Trinity Christian. Fayetteville Academy is a strong and physical team that has been bringing a balanced attack led by 2026 Jossiah Johnson, 2024 Xavier Johnson, 2024 Derrick Green, and 2025 Jadyn Cooper. They know how to put up points and are strong on both ends. Trinity Christian has the balance inside and out, as 2026 Justin Caldwell is proving to be a BIG talent down low, 2024 Linwood Rowe brings a ton of versatility, and 2024 DeVaughn Brown makes his presence felt both offensively and defensively.

Furthermore, you have Davidson Day who has a balanced and strong roster with athleticism, length, and scoring power, as they have been racking up the wins. Led by 2024 Mason Smith and 2025 Isaiah Denis, this is a team that certainly has the talent to make a run. Wayne Country Day is sitting there as well with a 20+ win record and is one that understands what it takes to make a run. 2024 Carlos Vazquez is an underrated player helping lead the charge, and they would love nothing more than to shock a few teams. Lastly, you have teams like Westminster Catawba, Burlington Christian Academy, Gaston Day, and others that would love to put it all together and make one last run to a title.

All we can say is that the NCISAA 2A Division looks loaded and could be an absolute battle for all teams in hopes of securing a championship this year.
