Player: Za’Miya Bynum
Class: 2028
School: Queens Grant
AAU: Team Curry
Learning about new names around the region is one of the best parts of this job, as each and every year Phenom Hoops and Lady Phenom are introduced to talented prospects. A player we were eager to see and learn about was 2028 5’9 Za’Miya Bynum from Queens Grant this past weekend at the Phenom Lakesgiving, and she didn’t disappoint.
Knowing that she was leading the state in scoring as a freshman, our scouts were excited to learn about her game and what she is fully capable of providing on the court. It didn’t take long to understand her talent and skillset, as she quickly put her name near the top of the rankings and entered more of the national picture for us at Lady Phenom.
Bynum has a phenomenal skill set and understanding of the game, something you really don’t see much with players at her age. She is a natural scorer on the court, playing with composure, great feeling and awareness, and is incredibly gifted in finding ways to showcase her offensive capabilities. She plays more like a veteran than a freshman, weaving through traffic, having tremendous balance and feel, really good touch, and a fluid release from all levels on the court. It was truly astonishing to watch her play; she is super talented, a tremendous playmaker, and certainly one that has the makings to be a nationally-ranked player in the Class of 2028. Already holding a few offers, it won’t be long until high-major schools nationwide start coming her way even more.
