The final game of the day featured the host school Broughton High School opening up its tournament play against Centennial High School. The Huskies jumped out on the Capitals from the start, as 2023 Jared McCain and 2023 Devin Williams paved the way for the visitors from California to an 18-0 lead. Broughton struggled to find its groove early, and it wasn’t until 2023 Hayes Carlin’s buzzer-beater 3-pointer to end the first quarter that the Capitals broke their scoring drought. Despite the brief glimpse of momentum — that drew a standing applause from the home crowd — the Capitals improved play was short-lived. In the second quarter, the Huskies continued to capitalize inside behind the play of 2023 Aaron McBride, to increase their lead to 18 at the half.
The Huskies continued to dominate in every facet of the game out of the break, and McCain’s breakout play helped Centennial increase its lead to 20 heading into the final period. The fourth quarter proved to play out similarly to that of the first three periods, as the Huskies cruised to a dominant win, 68-43.
