The John Wall Holiday Invitational continued on with another consolation bracket contest between Panther Creek and Apex Friendship. Being two highly competitive title contenders from the same area definitely added an extra dose of excitement to this battle, especially when you consider the fact that Apex Friendship just suffered a loss to Panther Creek within the last two weeks. The stage was set for the Patriots to get redemption and the Catamounts to further solidify their status.
Things kicked off in complete favor of Apex Friendship, as they were quickly piling on points and getting stops to open the game. Although Panther Creek showed resiliency and battled back, they still trailed 15-7 after the opening quarter. The second period offered more of the same, as the Catamounts continued to chip away at the deficit (getting it down to four points) but the Patriots consistently responded and rebuilt their lead. At halftime, Apex Friendship led 31-22 over Panther Creek. Following the break, the Catamounts continued to surge. Every time they would get the deficit back within one or two possessions, the Patriots would immediately answer. Apex Friendship held a 41-36 lead going into the final period of play. In the fourth quarter, the Catamounts simply ran out of gas, as Apex Friendship went onto secure a 57-42 victory over Panther Creek.
