The John Wall Holiday Invitational continued with a contest between Millbrook High School and Salisbury High School. After suffering their first defeat of the season, the Hornets were looking to right the ship and stay true to their identity. On the other side, Millbrook was narrowly edged out by one of the top teams in the event. Given the various subplots and abundance of talent on both sides, we were in for a noteworthy battle.

The opening quarter featured a fairly slow, steady pace from both squads. It was already easy to see the level playing field, as Millbrook held a slight 10-7 lead after the first eight minutes of action. In the second period, both squads seemed to start getting comfortable on offense and trading buckets, as Salisbury tied things up at 23-23 going into halftime. Following the break, the Hornets started to take control. They secured a lead and looked poised to never turn back, especially considering how effectively their guard play produced in the third quarter. However, the Wildcats made a late surge to chip away at the deficit. Despite Millbrook having multiple chances to tie or take the lead, Salisbury managed to hold on and secure a 47-42 victory.
