The John Wall Holiday Invitational moved onto the second showcase game of the day, taking place between Green Level High School and 1 of 1 Academy. The Gators entered this game having struggled throughout the course of the event, but still have ample talent to compete with any opponent in the field. On the other side, 1 of 1 Academy continues to prove itself as one of the better squads in the state. There were plenty of reasons to be excited for the final game on Thursday's slate.
Despite some general ups and downs, Green Level came out of the gate arguably playing their best basketball of the week. They hung with 1 of 1 throughout the opening quarter and only trailed 14-12 after eight minutes of play. The competitive juices continued to flow in the ensuing period, as neither team was able to gain much separation and the back-and-forth battle continued. At halftime, 1 of 1 Academy led 30-25 over Green Level. After the break, it remained a very close, hard-fought battle but 1 of 1 Academy simply knows how to stay disciplined behind their core of seven girls. They led 33-29 to start the final quarter of play. Although the Gators made one last push, 1 of 1 Academy went on to claim a 46-38 victory over Green Level.
