The fifth contest of the John Wall Holiday Invitational took place between Morris Catholic and Clayton High School. The Crusaders have garnered national attention and entered the season as the 21st-ranked girls' program in the country. On the other side, the Comets of Clayton always put forth a competitive roster and make noise within the state of North Carolina. These two squads kicked things off in a back-and-forth manner, featuring multiple lead changes in the opening minutes. However, Morris Catholic began to take control through their perimeter shooting and ability to get defensive stops. Through the first eight minutes, the Crusaders led 16-9 over Clayton. Following the opening quarter, Morris Catholic began to take over and control the action on both ends. The atmosphere remained electric, but the Crusaders held the lead with a firm grasp and entered the break with a 31-12 advantage.

After halftime, Morris Catholic continued to hit its stride. They controlled the game on both ends of the floor, scoring with relative ease and shutting down the opposition defensively. Despite the Comets battling on both ends, they trailed 57-20 after three quarters of play. In the final period, it was more of the same on both sides. Morris Catholic continued clicking on all cylinders, ultimately securing a 65-21 victory over Clayton High School.
