Every year Team CP3 is loaded with talent at every level and naturally this year is no different. In fact, this 16u team is as deep, with high level, talent as any team the region has seen in quite some time. Every player on the roster is a mid to high major type player, with most of them being the later.
This team is filled with long athletic players who play a very fluid style as they can all, despite their size, pass, shoot and handle the ball. Watch for them to get out and run, watch for them to defend full court and watch for them to finish high above the rim … often!
6’ 2020 Evan Johnson
Oak Hill Academy (VA)
Claimed Offers: Penn St, Iowa St, Oklahoma St, James Madison, Hampton, Liberty, Old Dominion
Johnson has played on the biggest stage as he was the first guard off the bench for famed Oak Hill Academy this season. He is a confident lead guard who can shoot the leather off the ball and gets his team involved. A true point guard, Johnson should be thought of among the nation’s top 100 prospects.
6’5” 2020 Darrick Jones
Oak Hill Academy (VA)
Claimed Offers: Virginia Tech, Old Dominion, Winthrop
With the climb and excitement surrounding Texas Tech freshman Zhaire Smith it is easy to see why there is a buzz with Jones. The strong and high flying lefty plays well above the rim, attacking the basket with ferocity. As he continues to do the tough guy stuff his star will only continue to rise.
6’8” 2020 Cameron Stitt
United Faith Christian (NC)
Claimed Offers: Hampton, UNC Greensboro
Stitt is a new name on the national radar, but one that will quickly gain traction. He is a long, fluid and athletic forward. He runs the floor very well, he finishes above the rim and he stretches the floor with range and a smooth, effortless 3-point stroke. Look for him to possibly creep into the Top 100 rankings by summer’s end.
6’3” 2020 Camren Hayes
Ben L Smith HS (NC)
Claimed Offers: IUPUI, North Florida, Western Carolina, Hampton
Hayes is another player who has yet to make a national mark but is sure to this summer. The lengthy point guard plays with great pace. He is explosively athletic and has a smooth jump shoot from the mid range extending beyond the arc. Like Johnson, he should be thought of as a Top 100 prospect nationally.
6’8” 2020 Joshua Taylor
Columbia HS (GA)
Claimed Offers: Rutgers, Georgia Southern, Florida International
Taylor is strong, he runs the floor quickly and he plays well within himself…very efficient. He has the ability to finish well around the basket. He has great hands and a sense of toughness about him, with pairs well with his truly great, very projectable basketball frame.
6’3″ 2020 Tristan Maxwell
North Mecklenburg HS (NC)
Claimed Offers: NC State, Winthrop
Maxwell is a marksman, a flat out scorer of the basketball. He comes by it honestly as his father, Vernon, is a two-time NBA champion. Maxwell has a solid frame and unwavering confidence. He shoots the ball well from range and has good footwork and elevation as he attacks the rim. Already with high major offers, that trend should continue.
