Sean Rose

Playing in the brand-new facility at the Rise Indoor Sports Complex, as it was a terrific atmosphere. But it also brought us some new, intriguing talent as well to the eyes of our scouts at Phenom Hoops. One team that quickly grabbed our attention was Team Synergy 2023, a roster that had good, young size, and playmakers on the court.

One thing that popped out immediately is the length that this team has. Everywhere you look, you had a player standing around 6'4 or 6'5, which is something you don't always see for a younger squad. But players like 2023 6'4 Brock Rose, 2023 6'5 Trent Gerald, 2023 6'6 Sean Rose, 2023 6'5 Charles Ormand, and 2023 6'6 Lamonte Cousar… these are going to be names that start popping out more around North Carolina.

Rose is one that can stretch the floor with his outside game, but also provide another good handler on the court. Gerald is the younger brother of Peyton Gerald, who is going to Catawba and brings some physicality to the court with his frame. Rose is an intriguing, long forward that uses his length to his advantage, finishes well, and gets on the boards while moving well on the court. Ormand was also another productive player that brings size. And Cousar, though wasn't there, we have seen him enough to know this is a young man that can really be a dynamic scorer with size.

When you start looking at the guard positions, you start with 2023 6'1 Evan Morton who is a guard that can knock down shots at a high level, has a quick release, and brings an explosive athlete to the court as well. Then you also look at players like Delani Hammonds, a 2024 prospect from Ardrey Kell, and 2023 Donevin Knight, two young guards that provide positive minutes, can make plays for their team, and brings good energy to the court. Knight brings good speed to the court and is disruptive on defense, while Hammonds is a shifty point guard with tremendous ball-handling skills.

Overall, Team Synergy 2023 was a team that quickly started to attract the attention of our scouts and should be one to garner more attention from college coaches.  These new names will certainly be more on the radar this summer and high school season.
