This coming weekend, Phenom Hoops will be hosting two separate events (one in Rock Hill and one in Advance) for the final live period of the basketball-filled summer. There’s an abundance of exciting/noteworthy subplots for spectators and college coaches to look for throughout both settings. The Hardwood Classic at the Rise Facility in Advance, North Carolina should have various teams and prospects worth seeing. Let’s take a closer look…
Talent for All: NC Spartans (Hartzell and Haidinger)
After seeing the entire NC Spartans program for most of the travel ball season, we have become more than accustomed to their overall makeup. There are plenty of prospects still readily available for the taking, and college coaches should be on full notice going into the weekend. In the calmest manner possible, we will (yet again) acknowledge the lack of offers angled towards Dawson McAlhany—arguably one of North Carolina’s most productive players of the summer. He will undoubted be a draw for scholarship-level coaches. Brooks Sizemore is scrappy and shoots the ball with range and a quick trigger; he also displays vision and the ability to create for himself or others. Jonathan Compton plays hard, works to fill in the gaps, and typically operates as a glue-guy for this group. Carson Fitch is a capable shooter with a wiry frame. The interior duo of Saylor Schott and Rio O’Hale seem to steadily improve with each viewing. Although quite different structurally, the Hartzell group still has plenty of talent worth noting. Caden Fitzgibbons (should he be with this squad) is always one of their main attractions with his transition presence and desire to dunk everything in sight. Jackson Hartzell is a deadly shooter with instincts as an off-ball cutter. Wyatt Harbaugh is an incredible blue-collar guy with a high motor and strong rebounding presence. Finley Simmons is a reliable, balanced glue-guy with the ability to operate in various different roles. Griffin Powell has shown the tools to be the best player for this group at times, given his wiry, shooter-friendly game. BJ Morris offers a sturdy frame with a pretty versatile presence. Isaiah Razmani is a capable shot-maker from multiple levels. Like multiple others, Joshua Durham consistently makes hustle plays and fills in the gaps for this group. Regardless of roster, college coaches should be able to find something worth pursuing within the NC Spartans program.
