The first-ever Phenom Lakesgiving was a huge success, as teams came out and really showcased their talent, and several players should see their stock rise after their performances at the event. Here are four players that college coaches should take a look at more with what they have shown early on.
2024 Desmond Kent (Central Cabarrus): It was a nice showing from the 6’5 junior, as Kent seems to be only getting better, developing more of his game, and being more assertive on the floor. Kent is a player that we have noticed more and more, especially with his long frame and impact on the court. At the event, Kent really showed his aggressiveness on the floor, finishing multiple occasions strong at the rim but also filling up the stat sheet and being a versatile piece to his team. He should only get better and better over time.
2024 Elijah Green (Covenant Day): The junior point guard was the go-to player for his team throughout the event, leading the team in scoring in both games but also showing his ability to run the show as a true point guard, initiate the offense and handle pressure, and also be a player that sees the floor and makes plays on the defensive end. Green had a great showing with his balanced play and really showed more of his offensive game in both games.
2024 Miles Beard (Hickory Ridge): Beard has shown that he can fill it up scoring-wise in the past, so it was no surprise that he continued to do much of the same at the event. But for college programs looking for a player with good size, and who can be effective in attacking the basket and getting downhill, Beard is a player to watch out for. He should only continue to gain traction this season with his performance.
2023 Rashad McCormick (Hough): McCormick is a name that continues to pop up each time we watch him, but it is hard not to like a 6’6 long prospect that continues to prove his ability to be effective from inside and out. He has the ability to stretch the floor with his shot with range, but he does a great job in finishing downhill and at the rim. A very versatile prospect that can guard and play multiple positions on the court.
