Playing down in South Carolina, it was easy to see that Bryce McGowens was one of the top players in not only the state but in the country with his game. An absolute star at Legacy Early, McGowens put on a show day in and day out, showing just how prolific of a scorer he could be on the floor.' And with his long, wiry frame to go along with his skillset, whoever was going to get him was for sure getting a talent at the next level.

Nebraska was the one that ultimately secured his commitment and it has only taken a few games to get under his belt to take off, as the 6'7 freshman has been putting on a show to start the season.' The true freshman has been averaging 17.3 points per game, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists while shooting 43 percent from the floor.

Watching his game, he is a unique prospect at his size and with his strong skill set.  He uses his wiry frame well, creates for himself, and understands how to finish, whether it is rising up for his jumper or getting to the basket.  You add that all together with his ability to be a threat in transition, his athleticism, and his IQ for the game, McGowens checks off a lot of boxes. But what is crazy to think is that there is still room for improvement. We have seen McGowens be a deadly threat from the perimeter but he is only shooting 25 percent from three early on in his career.

This is why it will be interesting to see where his game goes and if he starts rising up the draft boards for many. Right now though, it is time for many to start recognizing that he is one of the top freshmen in the country early on.

What Phenom Hoops has said in the past:

READ: NBA-type DNA: 2021 Bryce McGowens (Legacy Early College)

'His combination of length and athleticism along with his ability to handle and create opportunities for himself and others make him difficult to guard.  He is a smooth three-level scorer who has great range from the perimeter, can get to the mid-range, and finishes well at the rim.  He has a smooth handle, change of pace, and direction as well, and has good patience coming off of ball screens.  In addition to scoring, he is a high-level passer.  Defensively, Bryce uses his length well, especially when blocking shots either when chasing down the opponent in transition or rotating from the weak side.'
