What is great about watching team camps is that you honestly get a chance to watch and find new, young prospects that are coming through the landscape of high school basketball.' We found one for you; there is a player that many might have not heard about' yet' but we have a feeling you will sooner rather than later.

But the crazy thing is, is that Phenom Hoops had a chance two years ago to watch this young prospect that was only heading into the seventh grade at the time and he showed flashes then.' It took two years to catch up and watch the young man again, as he will now be a freshman this upcoming high school season.

Back in 2020 at a Teammates event in Rock Hill, we stumbled upon then 2026 6'3 Elton Smith with the Richland County Rebels, where we had this to say:

'I don't talk about too many young guys but 2026 6'3 Elton Smith from SC has those early 'it' factors.' Size 14 shoe, hands always up, long wingspan, and has the tools to be a big-time big down the road.' He is going to be one to watch in the state.' ' Patrick O'Brien July 10, 2020

Well, we got an updated look this past weekend at the SC Team Camp, where he is now a 6'6 prospect playing with Keenan.' And we have to say, we may have nailed it on the head then because the future looks bright for this young man. Elton has great size and a great frame, while also showing that he has continued to work on his feel down low in the post but moves extremely well for his young size.' He still has a ways to go but one can see that this is a young man that has a chance to be another BIG-TIME prospect in South Carolina and is getting a chance to learn at an early age.

Our very own, Colby Lewis, was quite impressed with his game, having this to say about his game:

'A young prospect with a ton of potential.' Long, athletic, active forward who runs the floor, crashes the glass, and protects the rim.' He showcased nice footwork and post moves.'

The boxes are being checked early and if the development continues to progress like it already has over the last two years, Elton Smith is going to be a household name very quickly around the region and quite possible nationally.
