To start with, Sam Houston State commit 6’8 2023 Torey Alston (Winston-Salem Christian) was tremendous all game. He is the heart and soul of this team, and impacts the game on both ends. His motor is nonstop. Combine that with his length, athleticism, and skillset, he not only produces right now, but has tremendous long-term potential. Alston finished with 9 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 blocks and 1 steal.
6’6 2024 Isaiah Washington (Winston-Salem Christian) continues to showcase his ability to score the basketball in a variety of ways. He is a gifted scorer/shot maker. Washington can score from all three levels. Washington finished with a team-high 14 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals.
6’4 2024 Kobe George looks really good running the show for this Winston-Salem Christian squad. He has his imprint all over this game without having to dominate the scoring column. It starts on the defensive end with his ability to pressure the ball. Offensively, he orchestrated the offense, created off the bounce and made plays for teammates. In the past, some may have questioned George’s perimeter shooting ability, but this is an area that he has really improved. He shot the ball with confidence from the perimeter off the catch, knocking down 2 three-pointers. George finished with 12 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 block and 3 steals.
Winston-Salem Christian’s interior dominated this game with the combination of Lewis Walker, Kany Tchanda, and Chol Machot. Their length and activity on the glass create multiple second chance scoring opportunities. Lewis finished with
Josh Lemons and TJ Cave also played a very strong game for Winston-Salem Christian. Both are tough, gritty guard who set the tone with their effort and intensity on the defensive end.
6’1 2024 Gabriel Marquis led the way for Raleigh Christian. Marquis is a quick, shifty, high IQ guard who can play both on and off the ball. He shoots the ball well from behind the arc. In addition, he changes pace well and can attack and make plays off the bounce. Marquis finished with a game-high 19 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists.
6’8 2025 Preston Copeland (Raleigh Christian) continues to improve after each viewing. He has strong, athletic frame, and competes on every play. He is active on the glass. In addition, he showcased the ability to step out and space the floor, knocking down multiple threes. Copeland finished with the double-double of 10 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists.
6’6 2023 Jakel Powell showcased in stretches his ability to create his own shot and the ability to get going from the perimeter. With his size, length, athleticism, he can rise up and knock down shots over defenders. Powell finished with 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist.
