As we continue to prepare for the upcoming high school season, I continue my Open Run Tours across the east coast. This weekend I drove up to Fairview, North Carolina to check out the Rankings Report & H3 Grind Open Run. This open run was full of players that were hungry to make a name for themselves. Here are the four players that did just that, showed up and showed out!
6’4 Shawn Jones 2022 put on an absolute show today. He is a freak athlete that can really finish above the rim. He used his quickness and athleticism to attack the rim relentlessly and finished at the rim all game long. He showed the ability to be a terror in the passing lanes, racking up steals and throwing down a few very impressive dunks. Aside from getting to the rim, he showed the ability to spot up and knock down jumpers from three. Being that he was an NC 3A All-Conference player, look for him to have a big year for his school this upcoming season. He was also named the Slam Dunk Contest Champion of the event as well. Division 2 schools should definitely take a look, could be a great addition to your team.
6’5 Caleb Lominac 2021 has a great frame and body along with strength that allowed him to dominate around the basket. He really attacked the boards and came up with a ton of rebounds for his team. He showed the ability to push the break and get to the rim, finishing at and above the rim. He also showed the ability to shoot well from the midrange as he consistently looked to score from that area. He showed the ability to knock down open threes and showed his versatility for sure. He could develop to be a swiss army knife for a College to Scholarship-Level Program!
6’4 Chase Boswell 2022 is a really active and athletic player who always seemed to be in the right spot on the floor. He has a high IQ in which he uses to make the right cuts and reads on the offensive end. He really looks to hound the boards and rebounds well especially offensively. He has a knack for using his body to draw contact and finish consistently. Defensively, he stays down and in front of the ball handler; he really looks to pressure the ball and actively cause turnovers. He also made a point to show that he could shoot the ball with some range as he hit a few deep ones from behind the arc.
6’3 Zaire McDaniels 2022 scored the ball from everywhere on the court causing a ton of problems for the defense. He has a very quick first step that keeps the defense on their toes every time he catches the ball. He displayed the ability to both knock down tough jumpers and finish at the rim regardless of contact. He rebounded the ball well and pushed the ball in transition making plays for himself and his teammates. I am looking forward to seeing how he performs this upcoming season.
