Former UNC star David Noel played on the 2005 NCAA National Championship team. After two years in the NBA playing with the Milwaukee Bucks and overseas, Noel returned to coach his alma mater as head coach of Southern Durham High School. In two short years, Coach Noel has Southern Durham in the conversation has one of the better teams in the NCHSAA 3A classification.
Playing in the Phenom High School Team Camp at Queens University, Southern Durham faced off against one of the top teams in the state and will be in the conversation as a nationally ranked team Moravian Prep. While it may have been a camp game for some, Coach David Noel has one thing in mind; to coach his team as hard as possible. To many, Southern Durham had little to no chance against a team loaded with D1 prospects, Southern Durham pulled off the two-point upset win.
