During this time, it feels like forever ago when we got a chance to watch a true state championship at the high school level in basketball. It was just two years ago though when we watched South Central take down West Charlotte to win their first 4A boy’s basketball title.

Many may have pushed the Falcons aside after their 9-17 record last season but many also forget that they had to forfeit many of their games.  But now, South Central is back in the light and looking to make another run at a state title in the 4A Division.

The Falcons sit with an undefeated record at 10-0, 9-0 in conference play. They have been dominant throughout much of their games, including seven of those games coming by 20 points or more.

This is a team that has been getting it done with a few new names but also with limited seniors, which is scary to think that they may all be back next season as well.

Junior Moses Tufts is a name that many might not know about yet but has been putting up tremendous numbers (17.0ppg, 9.0rpg), while Omar Harris has played well with this group (13.0ppg, 5.9rpg, 3.3apg). Then you have the likes of Jamir Wright, Joe Thompson, Daylinh Brown, and others playing their roles for this team.

This is a team that is averaging 64.8 points per game on offense and only giving up 41.4 points per game on defense, and Coach Cherry seems to be having the Falcons back in the big spotlight once again.  If you haven't watched them or taken notice of South Central this year… start paying attention!
