It is always great to see players proving everyone wrong… and sophomore BJ Freeman from Milwaukee is one of them. Freeman is a name that many may know from North Carolina and was one of the top players in his class when he was playing at Moravian Prep. But, for some reason, his recruitment didn’t always take off.

However, when you look at each place Freeman has played, he has found success.  At Clayton high school, Freeman was putting up numbers like 20.6ppg and 11.0rpg.  He then was the go-to guy at Moravian Prep, as he was continuing to show how versatile and strong he can be in an array of areas.  After that, Freeman went to Dodge City CC, where he made 24 starts and played in 33 games, helping his team to a 30-5 overall record.  There, he averaged 13.2ppg, 3.7pg, and 2.2apg.  And now looking at this season at Milwaukee, Freeman is playing at an extremely high level and continues to improve each and every day.  On the season, he is averaging 15.3ppg, 4.9rpg, and 2.0apg, while shooting nearly 43 percent from the floor.  And you can see that his minutes are increasing, along with his productivity, as he is coming off his best performance against Youngstown State in which he posted 30pts, 11asts, and 6rebs.

Freeman should be a name that continues to rise with his play and should be garnering more national attention with his play. Everywhere he has gone, Freeman has produced and we don’t see that trend slowing down any time soon. And though he may have been doubted by others, he is now proving everyone wrong

What did Phenom Say Before:

“After our update in rankings, Freeman now stands as the top unsigned senior in the state of North Carolina. This notion is easy to get behind, seeing as how he’s been the catalyst and focal point for Moravian Prep on a nightly basis. Freeman is an extremely skilled forward prospect with the ability to cause mismatch problems due to his blend of size, strength, and offensive versatility. He handles the ball and creates well for his size, displaying the ability to overpower smaller opponents while being too fluid and mobile for bigger opponents.”

“Before coming to Moravian Prep, he was an absolute stud at Clayton where he posted some ridiculous numbers. In his junior season, he averaged 20.6 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. But now, he made the move to Moravian Prep and the level of competition has stepped up, but this young man still is producing at a high level, just like he has always done. In maybe one of his best overall performances at a Phenom Hoops event, Freeman showed it all in a win against Combine Academy, playing with extreme confidence, knocking down shots from the perimeter with an improving outside game, and continuing to use his body extremely well against opponents. Freeman also impressed with his ability to create for himself off the dribble, showing that he can get by guards and body up smaller defenders, or he can make bigger opponents pay from outside. Freeman’s ability to operate on multiple levels, score effectively inside and out, and be a leader on the floor has really been impressive this summer and fall, and he is now making a statement to everyone about his game this winter with Moravian Prep.”
