Over the last decade or so, basketball has really transitioned into a perimeter-oriented game'especially at the highest level. No other era (coaches, players, and fans alike) would be able to cope with the thought that Jahlil Okafor can barely find minutes while Davis Bertans just signed a 5-year/$80 million deal. That's the current value of three-point shooting. Though it is the most evident in the NBA, we see trends like these emerging at all levels of basketball competition. Take someone like Marcus Kell for example, who would've likely developed his game drastically different had he been born just ten years earlier but now poses a threat as one of the top shooters in the region.

However, Kell has worked tirelessly'and succeeded–to solidify himself as more than just a shooter. Now, he's simply a matchup problem for most opponents with his lethal offensive arsenal. He's maintained his elite perimeter shooting from midrange and beyond the arc while adding strength, improving ball-handling, and highlighting increased toughness/athleticism around the basket. The 6-foot-7 Kell is a focal point at Legion Collegiate Academy and within the Upward Stars organization. The Lancers will rely on his leadership and all-around approach on a nightly basis throughout the current season, especially considering what he's showcased throughout the last few months.

As far as his recruitment goes, Kell currently holds a lone Wingate offer. This is somewhat perplexing for someone who built their foundation as a smart knockdown shooter, sprouted up, added obvious strength and athleticism, and now offers a pretty well-rounded identity. Kell has shown his ability to compete and produce against high levels of competition, even putting up ridiculous scoring totals and shooting clinics with relative ease. Although he's just a junior, there's no justifiable reason for him to hold anything less than a handful of offers at this point. Kell is undoubtedly a scholarship-level player and should see his recruitment trend upward over the next calendar year.
