The season has finally arrived for public schools and Phenom Hoops certainly couldn’t wait to get out and see more talent around the state.  One of the first stops this year was for an upcoming program in South Meck, as head coach Gary Hall looks to have the Sabres heading in the right direction.

One reason why there is excitement around the team is that we get to see what 2021 6’9 Joseph Ferrante can do under his new coach.  He answered those questions and a little more on Day 1 vs. Ardrey Kell, where he scored 28 points in the narrow loss.

But what we saw is what we have been seeing all summer long.  As a junior, Ferrante led the charge, averaging 12.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game.  This year, expect those numbers to increase, as he is one of the clear leaders and go-to players for this team.

In Game 1 of the season, Ferrante showed it all.  He gave us glimpses of how strong he can finish with a little bounce to his game, throwing down strong dunks and through contact.  Ferrante also showed patience and feel for the game down the post, performing well with his back to the basket and showing touch.  Add on top of that with his comfort level in stepping out with a smooth and soft shot, Ferrante offers a lot of intangibles that could translate to the next level for college coaches.

Ferrante not only plays incredibly smart on the court but is a tremendous student off the court as well.

To simply put it, Ferrante deserves more attention and looks to be a no-brainer player at the next level. He can help in several ways and can produce with his game. It is why coaches need to start looking more his way and fast.
