Player: Austin Medlin
School: West Stanly
Season Stats: Medlin had himself a season, averaging 20 points and 2.0 steals per game at West Stanly, shooting 39 percent from three, knocking down 58 3-pointers, and shooting 83 percent from the free-throw line. He also surpassed the 1,000-point mark this past season and was named the Rocky River Conference Player of the Year.
Game Description: When speaking with Austin, he would describe himself as an elite shooter and one that can score on all three levels but also is a sneaky athlete. He excels on the ball and as a help defender but also likes to be a leader on the court.
“With my game, I’m not very flashy,” he said. “I utilize the jab step and ball fakes to get my defenders but also got some good moves in my bag when I need them.”
This offseason, he is hoping to continue to get stronger and add weight in hopes of playing at the next level. But he should be a name to certainly watch as he is looking to continue his excellent play into his senior campaign.
