The South Carolina Top 80 really opened some eyes with the talent that was on the court.  There were several new names that jumped out on the court with their play and evaluations will be coming out shortly, but we wanted to continue our coverage of the event as we look at a few players that impressed.

2024 Jamarie Brown is a young guard that caught our eyes with his play and progression and should be one to keep an eye on more in South Carolina. The South Florence guard has been on the Phenom Hoops platform in camps and events before and has only continued to take the necessary steps in his development, adding more to his game.

As you can see down low, Brown has shown his ability to be a terrific knockdown shooter from deep but also use his long, wiry frame to effectively get to the basket. But we also got a glimpse more of his natural feel as a playmaking guard, displaying terrific handles, creating and getting around defenders, and his ability to create opportunities for himself and others off the dribble.

Brown showcased those natural floor-general abilities on the court and it will be interesting to see what he is able to show this upcoming season. A blend of creativity, ball-handling abilities, and offensive skillset from multiple levels… it should have Brown on the radar more in seeing how he continues to develop and what he can show this upcoming season.

South Carolina Jr. Phenom Evaluation (2019):

'Starting things off, we look at a player that has made some very nice strides in his progression, Jamarie Brown. He's a smart, unselfish guard prospect with a well-rounded skill set and excellent shooting prowess. Brown defends nicely and is capable of operating in a variety of different roles and expanding his production based on what the team needs. Next in his development process is working on his ability to move without the ball, as it would allow him to seamlessly play alongside another ball-handler. Coach Washington on Brown: 'Jamarie has an excellent feel for the game and has great IQ on both ends of the floor, especially for his age. I will love to see his progression throughout the rest of the season. He needs to improve on handling the point guard role more and being aggressive on both ends of the floor.' Brown could be one to watch, especially if he maintains his approach from camp.'

'Brown put on a scoring display today and did so in a variety of ways. A quick, downhill guard who showed that he can shoot it from deep. Very effective getting downhill and finishing around the crafty. Brown does a great job of being crafty once he gets inside the paint, able to finish over taller defenders as well as make the right play for his teammates. A player to be on notice for more impressive scoring performances the rest of the weekend.' – Phenom Hoops in 2021
