Learning What Teams Have

Teams like Charlotte Performance Institute, Springdale Prep, Charlotte Country Day, and Millbrook will all be teams Phenom Hoops has a chance to learn more about to start the season and the talent they may offer. Millbrook certainly always has talent, and we expect the same this upcoming season, so we are eager to see who steps up this season. Charlotte Country Day will have a few familiar names but also a few new players to learn about, as they bring experience to the court. Charlotte Performance Institute will have names you will want to learn more about, especially with freshman sensation JJ Sati-Grier and company. 2025 Elijah Mobley and Springdale Prep will also be another team to learn more about overall, with Mobley returning to North Carolina once again.

Christ School looking strong early on once again

Coming into the season, 2025 Zymicah Wilkins will get all the attention and deservingly so with this team, as he is regarded as the top big in the state right now.  But after watching this team recently, this is a team that has a lot more intangibles on the court with 2205 Madden Collins, 2026 Dacen Petty, 2026 Trey Jones, and others, making this team strong and tough once again. They showed that they could get it done offensively as well as defensively, making it tough for opponents on both sides of the court. They have a chance to show that on the big stage this weekend against Carmel Christian.

Loaded matchup between Combine Academy and Caldwell Academy

This is a game that will present many of the top names in the state all in one game.  We spoke about Combine Academy and what they bring with 2025 Kaden Magwood, 2026 Yohance Connor, 2025 Josiah Parker, 2025 Caleb Thomas, and others… they can be electric on the court and certainly showed that they are fun to watch. And they will be going up against another premier team in the state in Caldwell, that will have 2026 Cole Cloer, 2025 Jaylen Cross, 2026 Neal Swindell, 2027 King Kendrick, 2026 Ayden Johnson, and others all leading a balanced attack. I expect this to be an offensive game and a fun one to watch, with premier talent on display.

Intriguing game to watch early on: Covenant Day vs. Asheville Christian

This will be an interesting game early in the day on Saturday, and we are eager to see the guard play in this matchup. Covenant Day brings value with 2025 Tyree White and 2025 Chris Rivens leading the charge, as they hope to make a statement. But Asheville Christian has good guard play, led by rising talent in 2026 Ian Bailey.  Though it may not get the big-time spotlight compared to other games, this should be a fun game early in the day and one to watch for sure.
