Greetings HS hoops junkies from across the summer-like piedmont. The Sadster is attending the JMac Showcase in Fort Mill this weekend. Today, he saw excellent games, teams, and Stellar individual efforts. We will now recap the events on court 3 at Nation Ford High School.

In the first game of the day, CP3 2023 defeated 16U Team Fly behind 17 points from Marcus Brown and 8 points from Jaylen Curry. Fred Brown led Team Fly with 14. Curry and Aden Holloway make quite the backcourt on this 8th-grade team which is playing up this weekend.

In the next game, CP3 15U downed 16u Team Loaded 704 Ray, 60-36. They were led by 6’8 Deante Green and Jaydon Young’s 11 points apiece. Chas Stinson tallied 14 for the losers. Green is a dominant force in the middle and is fundamentally sound.

In the third frame, Team United 16U stopped Team Hickory, 79-43. Bernard Polite scored 18 and RJ Felton added 18 of his own. Daren Perry totaled 10 for Hickory. Polite is Mr. Hustle and seems to do it all for his team.

Next, CP3 2023 downed the Lowcountry Bulldogs, 56-32. Xavier Matthews LED CP3 with 13 points. Jaylen Curry and Aden Holloway recorded numerous steals and assists of their own. Yaturi Bolton scored 7 to lead the Dogs. 6’7 250 Lb. Derrick Green is a dominant force in the middle for CP3.

Team United 16U took out 15U CP3, 64-54. Trey Hubbard notched 13 and RJ Noord added 12 to rally United. Khalil Marshall put up 12 and Deante Green added 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks for CP3.

Team United 15U spanked the 16U Charlotte Royals 69-54. Daniel Sanford paced United with 16 and 8 boards and London Johnson added 16 of his own for United. The Royals were led by Stephon Richards with 17.

Team Charlotte 16U blasted Team Loaded Mitchell 74-48. Nate Brafford and Bryce Affino scored 13 each and Kris Robinson chipped in 12 for Charlotte. Thomas Jackson and Peyton Gerald scored 10 each for Loaded.

In a 17U tilt, Team Charlotte blasted the Sharpshooters 84-48. Tristan Maxwell scored 20 points and Myles Hunter added 11 for Charlotte. Rashaun Brown paced the Sharpshooters with 15.

The game of the day featured a 16U showdown between Team Charlotte and Team Winston. Winston posted a 44-37 lead at the half behind 9 from Caden Davis and 7 from Camian Shell. They built an 11 point lead until Tony Waters began to assert himself and started getting to the paint at will. Charlotte tied the game at 77, then a Waters steal resulted in his sinking the winning free throws with 12 seconds left. A Winston shot to tie the game fell harmlessly off the rim giving Charlotte the win. Waters finished with 25 and Nate Brafford added 14 for the victors. Shell and Davis had 16 and 15 respectively and Tyriek Leach added 17 in a stellar effort for Winston.
