Takeaways from the Game:

  • Rolesville senior Donavon Martin really grabbed our attention with his play. When watching the film, he showed nice versatility on the floor. He scored the ball well, can play and defend multiple positions, and shows good athleticism to his game. Martin's ability to get on the boards and immediately push the break, as well as play inside and out is intriguing for an unsigned senior. The stats back it up this season as well, as he is averaging 16.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game so far.
  • The Rams bring in nice depth this season, with an array of ages. Seniors and juniors have led the way but they also have a nice mixture of young talent as well that helps contribute. Martin leads the charge and looks to be the captain but they have several others that step up on a given night. In this one, it was the veterans that used a balanced attack.
  • Wake Forest is a young team, with multiple sophomores leading the charge. Grant, Smalls, and Lucas are all sophomores. Smalls and Grant usually lead the charge scoring this season, averaging around 14 points. Dashaun Grant played extremely well in this game, aggressively attacking the defense, pushing the ball in transition, and getting to the rim as well as embracing contact. He finished going 8-for-10 from the floor. But overall, this is a group led by young prospects and the more they stay together, the more intriguing this team becomes down the road.
