With their championship win in the Day’Ron Sharpe bracket of the John Wall Invitational, the Reidsville Rams are now on a 37-game winning streak and have a combined record of 53-1 dating back to the start of the 2022-23 season. The current NCHSAA record for consecutive wins is 91, set by Beaufort high school in the early 1960s. If they run the table this year, the Rams would be looking at a 32-0 record and their streak would sit at 61 games. Assuming that outcome, in 2025-26 they would need an undefeated regular season, conference tournament, and four (or five, depending on conference realignment) playoff wins to earn the record.

While this conversation is highly hypothetical and there are many external factors that could limit Reidsville in their quest for the record, it’s important to note that Dionte Neal and Kendre Harrison have only lost one game in their high school career, a game they’ve avenged three separate times now. Should they get through the remainder of this season unscathed, NCHSAA realignment seems to give the Rams a relatively favorable chance at perfection in Neal and Harrison’s senior season as they’re currently slated to be a member of the 4A classification.

Outside of favorable health, strategic scheduling, and a little bit of luck, the Rams will need a jolt from their role players down the stretch of this year and the entirety of next season. Kristian Scales stepped up in the John Wall Holiday Invitational, specifically against Farmville Central where he posted 14 points and eight rebounds to hold off the Jags. As teams continue to try and find a way to take away the dynamic trio of Neal, Harrison, and Johnniyus Sharpe, the production and impact of the supporting cast will get exponentially more important.

While we don’t know what the future holds, it’s impossible to deny that Reidsville’s path to 92 is real and has the potential to become one of the most interesting storylines to follow in recent memory.
