Phenom Hoops brings you yet another update in the recruiting world, as we recently spoke with 2024 Nick Petronio, a player that is coming off a strong summer and is focused on having a big junior season. Petronio has added a few new offers and interests, as he talks about the latest in his recruitment and who has continued to stay strong with him.

Phenom: How has everything been going as far as basketball goes' How did this summer go and how is the offseason been going so far for you'
Petronio: Everything has been going great, it is an exciting time. The summer went great, playing on the EYBL Circuit with Expressions sky-rocketed my game. The offseason has been going well, working out, getting shots up to be ready for the upcoming season and perform.

Phenom: What have you been focusing on this offseason with your game'
Petronio: I'd say getting stronger physically, getting my handle smoother and tighter, and working on floaters and different ways to finish.

Phenom: What is your excitement for this upcoming season' Any personal goals for yourself or for your team'
Petronio: Last year, we fell short in the playoffs and lost in the semifinals, and ended up finishing second in our league.' So, this year, our team is locked in on trying to win both the league and the playoffs.

Phenom: How would you best describe your game'
Petronio: I'd say that I'm a crafty combo guard who really shoots the ball well and makes plays for my teammates.

Phenom: Recruitment has gone well. Latest offer came from Boston College. What are your thoughts on them and what kind of relationship have you built with that staff so far'
Petronio: I think that BC is a great program that plays in a top conference in the country. They have an intriguing play style and is a close to home.  It has been great getting to know Coach Grant and Coach McRae and love talking to both of them.  I think they are both very knowledgeable and people you want to be around.

Phenom: Out of the programs that have offered, who has been staying consistent with you so far would you say'
Petronio: I'd say the three schools that offered me before Boston College.' Those are Yale, Fairfield, and Boston University.

Phenom: What have they said they liked about your game and how they can use you'
Petronio: They have said they love the versatility in my game, that I can play the 1 and make plays for others while still looking to score.  Also, the ability to play off the ball and create shots for myself while taking on more of a scoring role.

Phenom: What other schools have been showing interest'
Petronio: Loyola-Chicago, Rhode Island, UMass, Stanford, Penn State, Iowa, and Harvard.

Phenom: Have any planned visits or scheduled'
Petronio: Yes, Loyola-Chicago, Rhode Island, and Boston College. Loyola-Chicago on October 5th.
