Phenom Hoops continues their recruiting coverage, checking in with 2024 Dillon Tingler, who played with Midwest Basketball Club this summer and will be suiting up with Huntington Prep this upcoming season.  Tingler is coming off a strong summer and has certainly been attracting the eyes of college coaches, as he has added a few offers over the summer.  We spoke to him about his development and all the latest in his recruitment.

Phenom: First off, how did everything go this summer for you as far as basketball? What were you able to show more with your game?
Tingler: This summer was a very productive summer for me.  I really developed as a player. I feel like I was really able to showcase my abilities and now I know what I need to work on for next year.

Phenom: How would you best describe your game as a player? How do you like to operate and is there a player you model your game after?
Tingler: I would best describe myself as someone who is flexible and can get multiple things done on both ends of the court and can make an impact on the game.  I can create good shots for myself and for others.  I best model my game after Kevin Durant, since I was a kid that has been my role model and I feel like we have similar attributes, and f I can pick up how he can score and play at the next level, I can get there also.

Phenom: What is your excitement about this upcoming high school season with Huntington Prep?
Tingler: Super excited to be around a bunch of guys with the same goals as me and to be challenged every day.  I joined late last year so I look forward to the full experience.

Phenom: How has your recruitment been going overall?
Tingler: It has been exciting. It has been great talking to coaches and learning more about a lot of programs.

Phenom: What are your thoughts on the latest offer from Eastern Michigan? What stands out about them?
Tingler: Super blessed and excited about my new offer from EMU. I really look forward to learning more about their program.

Phenom: Who else has been really recruiting you strong that has offered?
Tingler: Marshall, Akron, and Ohio have always been in touch, and I have been talking to them the most.

Phenom: What have they said they like about your game and what kind of relationship have you built with each program?
Tingler: They have expressed they like how I can handle the ball and make a presence on the floor.  I have a very good relationship with all of them.

Phenom: Have you been able to make any visits?
Tingler: So far, I have only been to Ohio.

Phenom: How was that visit? What stood out?
Tingler: The visit was great, and they have a wonderful campus.  I loved their facilities and how the whole campus is set up.

Phenom: Any schools that you want to visit or have set up down the road?
Tingler: I would love to visit all the schools that have offered.  I’m looking forward to getting up to their campuses when school starts.

Phenom: What other schools have been showing strong interest but have yet to offer?
Tingler. I have had a good amount of interest but I have recently been talking to UMass and Illinois State.
