Phenom Hoops continues around the country to check in on players and their recruitment. Next up, we recently caught up with a 6’7 intriguing prospect who is part of the Class of 2024 in Caden Diggs. Diggs is coming off a strong summer with New World and has seen his recruitment really start to pick up, recently adding one of his biggest offers in Marquette and also taking visits to a few programs.
But it seems that this is just the start, with new interests are starting to come his way. Check out the latest in his recruitment.
Phenom: Recruiting has gone well. How has everything been going overall with your recruitment in your eyes'
Diggs: Recruiting has picked up a lot for me over the past two months. I’ve started receiving more high major attention.
Phenom: What have coaches been saying your way in what they like about your game and what you can provide on the court'
Diggs: The versatility I provide on offense and my defense, athleticism, and skill set.
Phenom: Marquette is the latest offer you received. What do you know about that program, what stands out early with them, and who has been your main recruiter from there'
Diggs: Getting the Marquette offer was really exciting, being one of the first high-major schools to offer me. Marquette has been on me for the last two months. I’ve been mainly talking to Coach Wells. What stood out to me most is how all the coaches made an effort to contact me.
Phenom: Who else has been really making a strong push your way'
Diggs: Butler, Richmond, and George Mason have been recruiting me hard as well.
Phenom: What stands out to you about those schools or what do you know about them'
Diggs: All have offered me so far except Butler. I was impressed with Richmond and the program they are establishing. They seem like they are up and coming in the high-major talk. George Mason is close to home and I am really familiar with Coach Simpkins. He was one of the first coaches to create a relationship with me before the summer, and I trust him. Butler seems very legit and I am interested a lot in Coach Matta. Their new staff there has a lot of experience and would love to visit sometime.
Phenom: Have you been able to make visits'
Diggs: I’ve visited Xavier, Virginia Tech, and Richmond.
Phenom: You spoke about Richmond. Virginia Tech was one of your recent visits. What was that visit like'
Diggs: It was good. I love what the future of their program beholds. Ever since Coach Young has been there, they have started to transition into a top program in the country, and coming off an ACC Championship is big. What I also liked a lot was how comfortable I was there, from the assistant coaches from my area to the Blacksburg Virginia hospitality.
Phenom: Got any visits planned or schools you are hoping to see more of'
Diggs: George Mason and Marquette are along the way. I hope to get to know more of the new schools that have contacted me or my coach like Virginia, UCF, Pittsburgh, and Stanford.
Phenom: What are things you are looking for in a school right now'
Diggs: Being able to make an immediate impact as a freshman and playing at a high level.
