Phenom Hoops reached out to our latest prospect in 2022 Cavan Reilly, who is a 6'4 guard that has been known for his outside shooting.' The Virginia prospect has earned some traction and early offers from a few schools but he has seen an uptick in his interest lately, as he continues to add to his game.

We discuss the latest with him.

PHR: How has everything been going for you as far as basketball goes'

Reilly: It's been going great.  I've been playing in as many events as possible and my recruitment is starting to heat up a little bit, so I'm just happy my hard work is paying off.

PHR: Recruitment has been picking up pretty well.  What's been the latest'

Reilly: I've been playing in a few different showcases and I had a great week at the at the McDonald's Top 150 Camp in Texas.

PHR: How was that event for you and what did it show you'  What were you hoping to show and how would you best describe your game'

Reilly: I went there with the mindset to just kill anybody who was guarding me but also do the little things and show I can guard.  I really showed that I can not only compete with the top guys in my class but make an impact on the game.  I was recognized as one of the standouts at the camp and my team made it to the championship, so I was just grateful I got invited.  I would describe myself as a combo guard who is an elite shooter, a three-level scorer, and someone who has a high basketball IQ.

PHR: Back to your recruitment.  You hold three offers already.  What have those schools that have offered been saying your way so far'

Reilly: James Madison, Bryant, and Southern Utah all have offered and have kept in touch with me.  A lot of other schools have been trying to show me how I would fit into their systems, it's just been hard getting on visits because of the virus but I think the next few weeks are going to be big.

PHR: What other schools have been showing interest'

Reilly: Virginia Tech, Xavier, Princeton, Elon, Lehigh, Belmont, Old Dominion, George Mason, Mount St. Mary's, and High Point, just to name a few.

PHR: What have they been saying in general your way'

Reilly: They've been just liking a lot of my stuff on social and telling me to keep working on my game.

Coach's Talk: With Coach Mario Foster (Middleburg Academy)

'We had the pleasure of coaching Cavan at Middleburg since he was in the 8th Grade.  He started as a quiet young kid who was known only as a deep range shooter and has grown into a really confident three-level scoring threat. This summer and fall, Cavan spent countless hours in the weight room gaining 10lbs of muscle and has extended his shooting range back to the volleyball line. Still growing, now at 6'4, his upside is tremendous. Any college coach who needs a hardworking, coachable, combo guard who wants to continuously get better every day would love Cavan.'
