Raleigh’s Finest 16U is set for the Queen City Showcase to be held July 24-26 at the brand new Rock Hill Sports and Event Center. Today, we want to take a closer look at two prospects that has been on our recruiting radar. Silas Demary Jr. and Justin Monden will lace it up for Raleigh’s Finest 16U team and showcase their talents and abilities.
6’4 2022 Silas Demary Jr. (Millbrook HS)
Playing for perennial NCHSAA 4A power, Demary averaged 4.9 PPG, but that doesn’t begin to tell the story on his upside and potential. In speaking with his travel ball coach, he stated, “Silas is the true definition of a combo guard. He does it all. Silas has great handles, a high IQ player that can run the show, not to mention a tough defender and capable rebounder. He also shot 40% from the 3-point line as a sophomore on a loaded Millbrook varsity player. Silas is a fierce competitor that can do it all.” This matches up exactly from our evaluation when we observed Silas at our ENC Phenom 150 camp last August. We stated the following, “Silas is a smart, well-rounded guard prospect that showed the ability to work well with or without the ball in his hands. He is great creator, both for himself and others.”
5’10 2022 Justin Monden (Heritage HS)
We expect this upcoming season to be a break-out year for rising junior Justin Monden. Justin is a dawg, the definition of “heart over height.” He’s lightning quick and can penetrate a defense to finish in the mid-range, find an open man, or use his athleticism to finish at or above the rim. Known for his ability to run a team efficiently either in transition or in the half court, Justin is also a reliable shooter from the perimeter. At our ENC Phenom 150 last August, we stated the following. “He’s a young, smart wiry point guard prospect that offers a nice balance between scoring and playmaking. Monden handles the ball well and proved to be an effective penetrator with the ability to make plays for himself and others. He positions himself properly on defense and already understands how to impact the game on both ends of the floor.”
