It was Championship Sunday and that only means that teams were going to go home with some hardware. It had been a tremendous event and the players and coaches really came out to compete, but only a few teams could go home with a trophy.
Two teams that are familiar with each other, took to the court for a championshp battle in the 16u division. Team Charlotte 2023 and Team United 2023 both came off tough, hard-fought wins to reach the championship and one was going to go home crowned a champion. It was a low scoring affair but it was a heavy-weight battle. Team United got out to the early lead, eventually leading by double-digits in the first half but Team Charlotte battled it’s way back not once but twice in the second half to make this game competitive coming down to the wire.
Second time around, Charlotte was able to take the late lead but it wasn’t sealed until Mekhi Grant swatted what would have been the game-tying bucket. It helped seal the comeback win for Team Charlotte 2023.
