It seems like every year at the start of the travel ball season, Phenom Hoops gets a chance to learn about and check out a few new players.  One player early on that has attracted a few of our scouts has been 2025 6'6 Andrew Grimes, who has been playing with the Raleigh Raiders and is coming off a solid freshman campaign at Clayton high school.

Diving first into his game, Grimes has a very intriguing skill set he brings to the court early on. HE has the early size that stands out as a freshman at 6'6 and still growing, as well as a very nice, fluid feel down in the post. He understands how to post up on the block and make himself available, showing nice touch and athleticism down in the paint. But then, he can surprise you with his handles for a forward, displaying nice comfort level in bringing the ball up at times, pushing in transition, or creating nicely for himself. Add on top, he isn't afraid to step out and knock down shots with his mid-range and even three-point shooting. Though his range isn't his strong sort, he is capable of knocking down shots when left open.

This past high school season at Clayton, Grimes really played well and showed promise in his game.  He averaged 8.8 points on 48 percent shooting from the floor. He also was strong on the boards, averaging 5.9 rebounds per game while also averaging 2.7 blocks per game in 25 games.

Could Grimes be the next one to watch out from the area'  Things are pointing that way but there is still room for improvement and development.  But one thing is for sure, he should be on your watch list if he isn't already.
