It is that time of year. Regional schools are mapping out their April Live periods. With only 3 days of LIVE period (well 2 really if you consider you cannot start until 6 on Friday and have to be done by 4 on Sunday) this year it is imperative that college coaches see the right players.

In this series, we are taking a look at various leagues around this region and the players these coaching staffs should be watching. A guide to help them streamline their process and get in front of the right kids …

This segment we are looking at prospects who would look good at American Athletic Conference level schools ' The American is a High Major conference with the likes of Houston, SMU, UConn, Memphis, Wichita State, Cincinnati, USF, etc' here are a few game changers for their league.

6'1' 2020 Jajuan Carr
WBC Elite / Pender HS (NC)
Claimed Offers: East Carolina

Carr has all the tools you want in a point guard at the high major level. He is explosive and lives in the paint. Once in the paint, he makes great decisions, under control with the ability to pass, shoot or keep his dribble alive. Carr is a high-level passer and his pace is second to none. Houston and USF have been in recently and ECU has extended an offer (all in this league). He is North Carolina's top PG in this 2020 class and his recruitment should be in line for a huge pickup.

6'10' 2020 Kuluel Mading
New Light Disciples / High Point Central HS (NC)
Claimed Offers: Western Carolina

Watch Mading for 5 minutes and you see his tantalizing skill set. He has great length and at 6'10' he runs and moves like a guard. After watching him play, despite his slender frame, you see Mading is tough. He tries to dunk everything around the basket and is an active rebounder. Mading also can step out and knock down the 3-ball or grab a board and initiate the break. Just scratching the surface here, Mading has a world of upside. His recruitment is just starting right now, but with the likes of Virginia Tech and Temple working hard on him, schools in the American should line up to put eyes on him as well.

6'7' 2021 Treyvon Byrd
NC Ice / Riverside HS (NC)

Byrd is about as electric of a player as there is in North Carolina. The long wing is aggressive getting downhill and plays so high above the rim. He still has some tightening to do with his game, but he is on the right path. Through two Phenom events this April, Byrd is averaging just under 28 points per game. He can act as a playmaking wing or he initiates offense on this team. Shot blocking, initiating and shooting he can do as well. So many tools here, such a young age. Right now he has no offers, that should change soon, there is a TON here.

6'8' 2021 Keeyan Itejere
UC 27 Dreamchasers / Research Triangle Park (NC)

Itejere is all about upside. The fluid and explosive athlete carries a 7 foot, plus wingspan and wears a size 18 shoe, growth is still there. He averaged 9 points, 7 boards, 3 blocks and 2 steals this season in high school. Itejere has ball skills on the perimeter and excellent timing blocking shots. He can shoot and he has great fluidity and explosion around the basket. Not even scratching the surface, he is one who could take a couple of massive steps, year to year. This is a bit aggressive for Itereje, but you know we are not afraid to say what we see. While offers will be further down the road, the schools at every level need to be monitoring his development closely.

6'7' 2020 Saiquone Harris
Juice All-Stars Stephenson / Garner Magnet HS (NC)

Harris is a new name to the list, but one who came into April with a. purpose. Standing at 6'7', Harris has legit wing skills. He will bring the ball up the floor for his Juice All-Stars Stephenson team, he will also initiate from the wing, shoot the 3-ball and defend multiple positions. There isn't anything crazy in his game, he is incredibly skilled at his size and plays with a great pace. Handle, shoot, pass at 6'7' so many tools and it seems he is just coming out of his shell. Watch this one closely, his recruitment is one that with a good weekend, one offer could turn into 10 real quick.
