Continuing to highlight players in the Class of 2028, 2028 6’6 Kevin Wheatley Jr. from Our Saviour Lutheran HS looks to be a very intriguing prospect to keep an eye on; college coaches already do. The 6’6 prospect has been attracting the eyes of programs early on. He checks off a lot of early boxes that you like to see with his frame, size, and athleticism. He is a strong attacker, finishes strong at the rim, and finds ways to be a playmaker, especially as a scorer. Phenom Hoops was able to catch up with him to learn more about his game and get some of the inside info about this rising prospect.

Game Description:

“I’m a versatile/dynamic player with a strong presence on both ends of the floor. I excel at running the floor, using my size and athleticism to finish in transition and get to the rim. Dunking is a big part of my game, but I’m also comfortable in the mid-range and have a reliable three-point shot. I take pride in rebounding, and I’m always looking to help my team with hustle plays and energy. Overall, I’d say I’m a two-way player who can impact the game in a lot of different ways.”

Focusing on Developing:

“My IQ and my pace.”

Model Your Game After:

“I used to study Kevin Durant but now I’m playing more of a guard position in high school so now I study Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.”

Thoughts on Early Offers and Dream School:

Offers: Auburn, Georgia Tech, and Rutgers

“It’s been a great feeling picking up those 3 early big Division 1 offers. I was already self-motivated before but receiving those offers put me in another gear of focus and commitment to my craft. I don’t have a specific school that I want to go to, but it would be cool if I went to Rutgers. Rutgers was my mom’s alma mater.”
