2023 Alex Bates IV has been a name well known around the Phenom Hoops landscape, as we had several first-hand chances to watch him on the court last high school season with United Faith.  On multiple occasions, Bates we just another counterpart of a very well-round team for United Faith, as he eventually helped his team secure a state championship.

When you talk about his game though, is such a sneaky prospect at his size.  He surprises you with his athleticism and ability to rise up to finish at the rim but he also does a great job in finding ways to score with his jumper.  He is a skilled prospect with or without the ball and can either step up and be a presence offensively but also be an effective secondary option on the floor.  Overall though, he is a very well-rounded 6'5 prospect that has a chance to take and show his game even more with some key losses with United Faith.

But this summer has been a good one for Bates, as he earned his first offer from Boston University and then added another from Campbell.  It will be interesting to see who else gets involved and how much more his game will continue to develop.

What Has Been Said:

'In terms of tools and actual skillset, Bates is probably quietly among the more well-rounded wing prospects in the state. He's long, skilled, and athletic with the ability to play with or without the ball in his hands. Bates can shoot, create, and adapt his approach based on surrounding teammates. He's a reliable defender and rebounder with great size for his position. Bates also displays a solid all-around feel and does a quality job of producing within his role. Given his flexibility on the court, he's able to fill in the gaps on both ends of the floor as needed.'

'2023 Alex Bates (United Faith): Bates is a name to get to know more about.' Not only did he go viral for his explosive dunk but the 6'5 prospect also showed his ability to be an effective shooter from three and with his mid-range game.' Sneaky explosive player that is an effective scorer with a fluid smooth shooting stroke. Really like his game and what he provides to this team.'
