It seemed not too long ago, Kuluel Mading was a name that many may have not known about.  Fast forward to now, the junior big man has certainly made his mark on the basketball court and is racking up offers around the region from college programs.

At The Burlington School, Mading continued to make his mark on both ends of the floor with his ability to run in transition and finish at the rim, as well as get on the boards and be a legit shot blocker as well.  It is what many schools saw in him and the reason why they offered.

Holding offers from Western Carolina, Radford, Clemson, UNC-Wilmington, and UNC-Greensboro, many of those schools have been staying in contact with him.

“Everything recruiting wise has been going well, seeing more schools at every level getting involved day-by-day,” Mading told Phenom Hoops.  “They check up on me and we talk about things, not only basketball but outside of basketball.”

Each school that has offered has its own factors that stand out to Mading right now. Clemson stands out because it still remains to be his first and only Power-5 offer and that they believed in him. UNCW was Mading’s most recent offer and he had developed a relationship with the staff at their previous jobs.

Mading has connections already at UNCG with players and the coaching staff, while Elon stands out because they believe in faith as much as he does.

Western Carolina still holds a special spot since it was his first offer and Radford’s production on the court and performance against tough competition deserves credit.

As far as schools that are or have been expressing interest, there are a few more Power-5 schools that have their eyes on Mading.  VCU, Cincinnati, Providence, George Mason, College of Charleston, and Pittsburgh are all schools that he has heard from in the past few weeks.

“They have just been saying how they want to utilize me at their schools and build relationships with them.”
