All Brackets: https://www.ncisaa.org/playoff-brackets/?sport=13¤tyear=1
It’s that time of the year again. Private school basketball has concluded its regular season schedule and will begin postseason play this Tuesday. With the first round only days away, it feels like the ideal time to take a closer look at each classification and highlight some of the potential title winners. It’s always worth remembering these are merely previews and predictions that have no actual impact on the games being played. Let’s dive into each…
After previewing the two most wide-open classifications in 2A and 3A, we move on to 4A. Given how Christ School has dominated throughout the season, it’s pretty difficult to envision anyone beating them. Not only do they have a roster full of real difference-makers, but Coach Coley has as much experience winning state titles as anyone in the bracket. Their core of Zymicah Wilkins, Madden Collins, Mason Collins, Dacen Petty, and Tyler Jones might be the best five-man unit across all association-based teams.
Teams like Carmel Christian, Providence Day, and Covenant Day each look to dethrone the Greenies and prevent a three-peat. The second-seeded Cougars will be led by Bryce Slay, with guys like Chandler Kennedy, Miles Leaks, and Daniel Guandolo providing meaningful contributions. The Chargers have a veteran group with the likes of Deuce Haynes, Trajan Thompson, Julian Johnson, Nick Hailey, Sean Dunn, Jonah Lawrence, and several others leading the charge. Meanwhile, the Lions have found strong success behind the leadership of Tyree White and consistent production from Chris Rivens and Micah Huffman.
That being said, Forsyth Country Day could certainly shock some opponents; Cannon School has one of the most explosive offenses in the state; Wesleyan Christian is just beginning to truly hit their stride; and Ravenscroft has one of the most effortless scorers in Chance Gladden. While it’s challenging to pick against Christ School, this bracket should be as exciting as any to follow.
