Phenom Hoops gets a chance to see so many players at so many levels and there is nothing like getting an early chance to watch a young prospect grow and develop into a future star.  And when you know the potential that a young prospect has is unlimited, it only gets you more excited about the future.  A player that we are and have been on for quite some time now is 2025 Zymicah Wilkins from R-S Central) and Team United.

First off, he was one of just a few freshmen to be invited to our prestigious North Carolina Top 80 camp in 2021, where we had this to say about his game:

“He’s a smart, skilled, polished forward/post prospect with advanced touch, vision, creation skills, and the instincts to operate in the post or along the perimeter. Wilkins absorbs contact extremely well as a scorer, defender, and two-way rebounder. He can reliably score from all levels, run the floor well in transition, and stand out as a leader by example on both ends of the floor. Wilkins looks to make unselfish passes and hustle plays whenever possible. It’s quite difficult to point out any glaring weaknesses within his identity, especially at his age.”

And we continued to follow him throughout his high school career this past season, where he helped his team finish 26-3 overall and average an impressive 15.2 points, 9.7 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 1.8 blocks per game.

Once again, we got a chance to watch the young forward in action at the Phenom G3 Showcase, where he was one of the top players from the event and it was easy to see.  Watching the big man operate on the court is special because you don’t see a prospect at his age and size have the skill set he has.

When breaking down and watching his game, one thing you must notice is just how skilled he is as a 6’8 prospect. Wilkins has incredible footwork in the paint, especially in finding ways to get around defenders, and he moves extremely well and is quick to get the ball around the basket. He also is strong in keeping the ball alive off the boards, running the floor from end to end, has exceptional passing skills, and is strong as a defender.

Wilkins is special and should be a name you start tracking at a national level. And as only a freshman, it will be interesting to see how he continues to develop his game, along with how much bigger and stronger he will get in the coming years.  But there is no doubt about it, he is one to get on immediately.
