6’4 ’26 Dane Cassada (Calvary Day)
It’s easy to appreciate everything Cassada does to assert himself as a focal point and team-oriented leader for this group. He’s a smart, highly skilled guard with great size, feel, and the necessary polish to burden a massive offensive load. Cassada scores from all levels and creates for himself and others with relative ease. He offers the perfect balance of playmaking and scoring prowess, and displays a strong understanding of how/when to alter his approach. Cassada is a reliable defender and quality rebounder for his position. He always stands out through his methodical approach and general productivity.
6’3 ’25 Jaylen Claggett (Lab U)
Despite only playing a single game at the Gate City Classic, it was easy to appreciate everything Claggett did in this contest. He showcased the ability to defend, create for others, and knock down shots at his usual rate along the perimeter. Claggett also attacked closeouts and made quality decisions off the bounce—both in transition and the half-court. He secured rebounds at a solid rate and proved to be an efficient, reliable option with or without the ball in his hands.
6’1 ’26 Owen Calvert (Calvary Day)
Consistency is incredibly important in the game of basketball, and Calvert’s approach is truly as consistent as anyone in the state. He’s a tough, pesky, polished guard who can absolutely fill it up as a scorer. Calvert is a nice passer who creates well for himself and others off the dribble. He scores at a frequent rate from all levels and mixes it up effectively to take whatever he wants offensively. Calvert is also a scrappy defender who forces turnovers and pushes the break in transition. He can also dictate the offense as needed.
6’8 ’26 Kevin Crockett (Lab U)
Arguably the most intriguing new face from the weekend, Crockett is definitely a name for college coaches to know. He’s long, fluid, wiry, and displays a reliable interior presence on both ends of the floor. Crockett excels at finishing around the basket, both in transition and the half-court, and making his presence felt on the glass. He’s a useful rebounder and has enough skill to attack off the bounce within a few dribbles. Expect his stock to continue to rise.
5’10 ’27 Kobe Plata (Southern Wake Academy)
There are so many intriguing pieces on the Southern Wake Academy roster, and Plata consistently stands out despite being the youngest of their core pieces. He’s a smart, poised point guard who controls the pace, creates for others, and scores within the flow of the action. Plata is a terrific playmaker with a tight handle and sharp vision. He utilizes his quickness to consistently touch the paint and make the right decision with the ball in his hands. Plata is also a pesky on-ball defender at the point of attack and sets the tone by example on both ends of the floor.
